Project
2019 Annual Report
Purpose
Engaging and inspiring members through stories of people’s courage and triumph in the name of conservation.
Story
For their 2019 Annual Report, World Wildlife Fund wanted to shift the story’s focus away from their own accomplishments and onto those of their partners around the world. They wanted to tell the stories of courageous individuals, from a sustainable rubber farmer in Myanmar to a young activist in Washington DC, who, despite the widespread obstacles of today, are working alongside WWF in the name of conservation, and making great gains.
The concept for the design was inspired by the idea that out of darkness comes light. Each story profile is preceded by a dark spread, symbolizing the obstacle that they are fighting against. From the use of black vellum pages, to the folio, to the black and white photography, each design element was carefully considered as part of this dark-to-light theme.
