Purpose

To create a brand identity that embodies the Makoshey girl: strong, independent and confident

Story

Founded by parents of three daughters who felt limited by the girls’ clothing options in most stores, they set out to create their own brand that would suit their daughters’ active lifestyles and those of thousands more around the country.

Named for the founder’s grandmother, the branding needed to embody the strong, independent spirit of its namesake, while attracting their target audience: girls ages 6-14.

In developing the concept, we wanted the branding to feel as if it was not only created for the Makoshey girl, but by the Makoshey girl. Hand-drawn type as Makoshey herself may have signed her name, and a face doodled into the “O”, as Makoshey the girl surely would have drawn.

We also came up with the tagline, which perfectly describes Makoshey’s aspiration for their girls: Feel free to be you.
